We've also included a link to our Kids Free Trial so your kids try us out at no cost! Want Your Kids to Try Us Out? Click Below.1. Self-DefenseOur goal at ICBJJ is first and foremost to provide kids with age appropriate and effective real world self-defense strategies to help them navigate their way through the most stressful and dangerous moments of their lives - being bullied, threatened, victimized and beaten up. Our self-defense curriculum is both real world proven effective for children and humane. All of our kids classes include the Close Range Tactics Kids Self-Defense curriculum. ICBJJ Head Instructor, Jason Clarke, teaching an age appropriate self-defense lesson to 4-6 year old students. 2. Anti-FragilityIf something is broken or destroyed by pressure and challenges we consider it to be fragile. But, when it is instead improved by them, we consider it to be "Anti-Fragile". This is an ideal mindset for tremendous personal growth, and there is probably no better system for developing this trait than a well designed BJJ curriculum and qualified coaches such as what we have at ICBJJ. 3. Self-DisciplineSelf-discipline is an invaluable character trait for children to have and one which is neglected in other learning environments. We teach and foster self-discipline development with our coaches leading by example and setting standards within the academy that promote its development in children. Motivation ultimately fades and in order to achieve real rewards in life one needs to have self-discipline. 4. Character DevelopmentIn addition to physical lessons taught on the mats we also have Mat Chats to discuss important life skills and character traits with the kids. The Mat Chats cover topics such as Respect, Perseverance, Empathy, Manners, Anger Management and more. This secondary curriculum is indispensable in providing children with a non-physical skill set which helps them better navigate the world, deal with challenging situations and become better humans.

The benefits that we can offer kids - from the physical to the social and the psychological, simply can not be acquired overnight. Getting the most out of the training requires commitment. At ICBJJ our core philosophies and amazing coaches help foster this quality in our students. The kids learn that not only must they work to achieve their goals and that doing so takes time, but also that they ARE capable of doing it. 7. HumilityThrough the challenges of training Jiu-Jitsu and the examples set by the coaches and leaders of ICBJJ, children learn to be humble and express humility in both victory and defeat. This starts first with the culture of the academy and having high standards for our coaches. We show them the benefits of being gracious and humble in either instance as well as how to learn and improve from both.
9. Work EthicOur curriculum at ICBJJ is designed so as to teach, promote and encourage individual work ethic. This starts with the culture in the academy of encouraging students to take responsibility for their own training. We have found that students who take ownership over their self-development improve at faster rates, understand the material better and are higher performers. Developing a solid work ethic is essential to many areas of life for children and we have established an environment for them to acquire this important skill at ICBJJ. 10. RespectThe learning environment and culture at ICBJJ is designed to teach children all aspects of what it means to both have respect and to show it. Additionally, through our standards in the academy as well as our lessons regarding dealing with bullies and self-defense, we show how important it is for children to have self-respect. 11. Dealing With FailureOur philosophy at ICBJJ is, "If you want to be good at something, you HAVE to be willing to be bad at it. Being bad at something is the first step to being good." The academy culture, the examples set by the coaching staff and the design of the training will give kids the opportunity to face failure. They will then learn how to see failure as way to improve themselves for a better performance in the future and to not let it set them back.
