Improving Community Safety Through Training
Scholarship Details

ICBJJ is a verified member of the Invictus Law Enforcement Jiu-Jitsu Collective. We are LE friendly, offer self-defense courses as well as periodic LE Only Seminars.
ICBJJ has for years now offered a scholarship to Law Enforcement professionals and Correctional Officers who are able to meet a minimum standard of training. Our goal is to increase officer competency and confidence through our training in order to improve not only their safety, but also the safety of the communities they work in.
In a close range encounter in a weapons based environment, the ability to intelligently and effectively grapple is the most important skill an officer can have second only to being able to recognize ahead of time that an interaction with a subject is about to get physical. The degree of control and the overall effectiveness that an officer skilled in grappling has over a resisting or violent subject is worth it's weight in gold when compared to the alternatives. Officers who are skilled and competent in using hands on applications of force are less likely to use excessive force or an unnecessarily high level of force when dealing with a subject. Training regularly with us at ICBJJ allows the officer to develop a confident sense of awareness when utilizing force that can keep a physical situation from becoming worse or spinning out of control. Not all Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu instruction is equal. Most BJJ gyms only focus on competitions, which are rife with rules, regulations and referees. Gyms with this primary focus are not going to offer the level and focus of instruction that will actually be applicable to LE's or anyone concerned with real world self-defense. Our curriculum, methods and coaches cater to the self-defender and LEO. Yes, we do compete, and we do win championships... but to us, competing is just another form of training under pressure. Currently, the scholarship program is limited to 8 full time LEs and COs. You can apply for the LE/CO Scholarship by filling out the form to the left. |
