Close Range Tactics Self-Defense
CRT Classes OPen to Public Last Thursday of Each Month
The last Thursday of each month we offer a CRT Class that is open to the General Public for Free. If you'd like to attend one of our upcoming open classes, please complete the form above and we will contact you to schedule your class.. After completing this Introductory Class, you can attend our regular weekly CRT self-defense classes.
WHY TRAIN SELF-DEFENSE?
Small social confrontations, assault, robbery, kidnapping, rape, domestic violence and even homicide, all tend to happen at close range - often within arms' reach. Familiarity and Proficiency at defending oneself in close range scenarios is an incredible skill set to possess.
Regular martial arts classes at BJJ/MMA gyms are usually not capable of teaching real world self-defense tactics because their curriculum is either based entirely on the sportive or historical aspects of their particular style. Many claim to offer self-defense but few can deliver a well rounded, modern program based on reasonable force. The Close Range Tactics (CRT) classes at ICBJJ develop proficiency in a multi-disciplinary system so that practitioners learn how to defend themselves and their loved ones in a realistic manner for the modern world. The scope of the curriculum includes de-selection and deescalation tactics, unarmed tactics, the use of defensive tools such as pepper spray, defensive knives and defensive pistols, grappling, striking, multiple adversaries, medical trauma care and dealing with law enforcement. |
What Will My First Class Look Like?
Congratulations! You just submitted your free class request. One of our Program Managers will reach out to help you pick a date to come in. We only offer these free trial classes on the last Thursday of each month, unless it's a holiday. We will also reach out the day before to confirm, and send you a digital waiver.
Your first class will be an overview of the various areas that comprise the foundation of our Close Range Tactics self-defense skill set. Before class, you will get an orientation with a Coach and shown around the facility. Then, the fun begins! The Coach will have the class warm up by playing some partner based games that also help teach important concepts & strategies. After warm ups the Coach will cover Managing Unknown Contacts and students will role play various scenarios with each other. This will transition into working through unarmed scenarios where defensive striking and grappling skills are addressed. Using pepper spray, the defensive knife and the defensive pistol will also be covered. Students will work with each other through various fun challenges to gain experience in applying the strategies. There you go! You’ve just taken your first CRT class. Now that you've attended your Introductory Class, you can attend our regular weekly class every Thursday evening where the various skill sets are developed to a deep level of understanding and expertise. |
