Foundations of JIU-JITSU
The Flagship of our Adult Program, Foundations of Jiu-Jitsu is open to Adults 17 and up of all skill levels. This is where we start all of our Adults so that they have the best possible beginning to their Jiu-Jitsu training and it is our most popular class. Due to our unique and specialized coaching methods this Beginner Friendly class allows for both Novice and Advanced Students to have incredibly fun and rewarding practices with each other where everyone learns, improves, is challenged and gets a great workout.
WHY STUDY JIU-JITSU?
Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ), is a grappling sport that has developed to overcome brute strength with superior intellect and strategies which emphasize leverage, pivot points and physics. Properly executed, it allows a smaller person to gain control over a larger and stronger opponent.
Real world fights and physical assaults occur within arms reach and can quite often end up on the ground. Jiu Jitsu teaches you not only how to stay on your feet and avoid going to the ground, but also how to survive and even incapacitate your opponent/assailant if the fight does go to the ground. Physically & Mentally Challenging: For the person looking for a new hobby, BJJ will give you a new level of cardio, conditioning, and mental sharpness that will get you into peak form. You’ll build trust with your training partners and experience community in a completely unique way, as people you may never otherwise know help you improve and grow strong. For Veterans: Our message to you is that many of us at ICBJJ are also Veterans, and through training here we have found our new Brotherhood and Sisterhood that we left behind on active duty. By training with us you will find your new Team and Family. We are supportive and understand where you are coming from. We offer a Veteran's Discount and are a member of the We Defy Foundation. For Law Enforcement Officers: Statistically LEO's will go hands on with a subject more often than they will draw their service pistol. Therefore, the ability to grapple effectively and apply reasonable force is critical. Fact: Most LEO's are undertrained on Defensive Tactics at ILEA and then only get 8 hours of refresher training per year at their Department. This is suboptimal for professionals who need to go hands on at a regular basis in order to protect our communities. At ICBJJ we've had a Law Enforcement Officer Scholarship Program for 14 years. We offer 2 years of FREE TRAINING to 10 LE's. To Learn more click here: Law Enforcement Scholarship Training for Preparedness: Being physically fit and able to defend oneself and family is critical for those who are concerned with preparedness. At ICBJJ we have the same concerns. That is why we also include classes on modern self-defense and firearms safety. |
WHAT WILL MY FIRST CLASS LOOK LIKE?
Congratulations! You just submitted your free class request. One of our Program Managers will reach out to help you pick a date to come in. They’ll also reach out the day before to confirm, and send you a digital waiver.
Your first class will be one of our Foundations classes. Females can opt for a free trial in our Women's Only classes. Before class, you get an orientation with a Coach and shown around the facility. Then, the fun begins! The Coach will have the class warm up by playing some partner based Jiu-Jitsu games for about 10 minutes that also help teach important concepts & strategies. After warm ups the Coach will lay out game based challenges for partners to work through which focus on a current critical concept or foundational maneuver. Near the end of class there will be time for live sparring for those who feel ready to do so. Voila! You’ve just taken your first Jiu Jitsu class. It only gets better from here, as you keep coming in and applying your ever building skill set to future dynamically designed practices! |
